We have this week put the dogs to work renovating our apartment; if you feed them enough Schwarzwalder Schinke they become able to roll up and down the walls, and it is just as much fun for them to do so with a little paint in their coats...
A few days ago we went to the German version of Bunnings which is called, absurdly, Bauhaus.
As it transpires, I will be spending June and July in Dortmund before making Systemic pilgrimage back to Australia for August, so- if anyone (who we know) fancies spending the European summer in Berlin and subletting my room very cheaply, let us know...

Favourite new German word for the week:
Spiegelei - Fried egg (Spiegel meaning mirror, or shining).
So, other than wandering the streets, triangulating our mental maps of the city, and going to the occasional opening, we haven't been doing all that much; until tomorrow morning, we continue to languish in Jugendherberge, waiting to get the keys for our apartment. Oh, and we have been collecting dogs, we have amassed a pack of around 70 in the past week and a half. For there is an unbelievable amount of dogs in Berlin, considering that most people live in apartments. Big dogs, too. Images of dog jamborees on the roofs of all the apartment buildings - what do people do with all these dogs, when they are not walking the streets? We have trained our pack to run around in a continuous infinity loop on Schlesisches Tor, creating a slipstream for bicycle traffic, cars being more afear'd of the dogs for some reason.
